Wall Texture Techniques
Giving your house a makeover? Done with the electric wiring, flooring and other home decorating work? It is time to plaster and add colors to the walls. Well, painting your walls in plain shiny color is a passe. If you want to have the best looking area, consider the various wall texture techniques. Wall texturing is a popular trend these days which adds that unique element to the surface resulting in the best wall decoration. While there were a few options available previously, today there a number of options in these, from which you can choose one.
Texture Techniques for Walls
Knockdown
This is known to be one wall texture technique that takes time to work upon. It is also known to be more expensive than other techniques. The resulting textured wall looks bumpy with some unique shapes, raised above the wall level.
Skrip Trowel
This is one of the highly popular techniques which is done using a trowel. After two plain color coats are applied, the trowel marks are used to create a rustic look. Usually semi-circle marks make this texture. With large and small semi-circles the wall gets a classy appearance.
Orange Peel
Ever seen an orange peel? That's exactly how walls with an orange peel texture looks like. This technique is commonly used for walls and ceilings as well. It involves use of a machine to spray the texture compound over the walls. The thinner the compound and lighter you spray it, the better will the result be. Fill the compound into the texturing machine, attach the hose and spray the nozzle to cover the walls, Once it dries you can apply the desired shade of color to the walls.
Brush
This is one of the easiest wall textured techniques which also look beautiful. This is also known as crow's feet, slap brush and stomp texture. A drywall texture bush is used to create lovely strokes on the wall in this faux painting technique.
Mud Swirl
A swirl finish looks just like your paint brush has been moved in circular directions on a wet painted surface. This is a little similar to the trowel texture. The difference is the uniform shapes that are formed with this technique instead of those uneven semi-circles. This will give a classy look to your walls with the never ending and intertwined patterns, which need to be essentially done by a profession.
Stucco
Stucco is amongst the popular ceiling and wall texturing methods used in commercial as well as noncommercial interior painting. This style of painting gives your walls an even looking prickly texture.
Apart from these techniques, you can also opt for other techniques like venetian plaster, stamped, spray sand, acoustic or popcorn. With these you can add some lovely shades to the walls and neutral shades to the ceiling. Using shades like purple, silver gray, and olive will make the textures look the most attractive. You can choose to have a single focal wall texture instead of having it on all the walls. Instead of learning how to texture walls, it is best to hire an experienced professional to get the best wall texture. You can pick one of these which fits in your budget. Consulting paint shade experts is a good idea to have excellent looking interiors.
