Dust Ruffle
Most of you would be eager to know what a dust ruffle is. Probably others might be confused between a dust ruffle and bed skirt, right? Well, this ruffle is among the various bed accessories that are used to grace the bed. Apart from adding a style element to your bed it also helps prevent dust from collecting beneath the bed. How to use a ruffle, how to fix it, and what are the sizes? Well here are the answers of such questions.
What is a Dust Ruffle?
It is basically a fabric sheet, covering the bottom half of the bed. It hangs loosely, starting from the bedding or the crib. While both, a ruffle and bed skirts serve the same purpose of covering the bottom half of a bed frame, they are fixed in a different way and are designed differently. The basic difference is that a ruffle essentially touches the floor while a bed skirt might or might not touch the floor. Next, a ruffle consists of a continuous fabric which covers the bed from all the sides. Basically it has an added pleat so that it can comfortably lay on the four corners of the bed or the bedpost.
Fix a Dust Ruffle
A bed ruffle has an elastic inlay at the top border which helps it fit tightly around the box mattress. Some of the bed ruffles also come with velcro strips. One velcro section adheres to the mattress box and its pair is fixed on the ruffle. You can fix the bed ruffles to the bed using these velcro strips.
Ruffle Sizes
It comes in a number of sizes and you can definitely find a piece to suit your needs. The vast range in sizes allows you to get one for crib mattresses as well as a king size mattress. All you need is the right measurement of your mattress before you buy them.
Ruffle Designs
This is an important part of choosing one after you know the right size. Basically you need to have one that goes well with your bedding. Apart from this you can also consider matching it with the rest of the furnishings like your curtains and drapes.
Mostly this ruffle is selected to closely match with the pillows and bed sheet. You can have a printed ruffle with plain bedding where the entire set has the same base color. Also, a plain ruffle in a color matching with the base color or color of the prominent print in a printed bedding is a great idea. If you have well coordinating colors in the entire room then you can opt to have a ruffle matching with the curtains. Here's an idea to have a perfect package with the right furnishings. Have closely matching curtains and bed sheets. Next have a fabric in design that matches well with that of a bed sheet and curtains. This fabric will be used for adding valances, pillow covers and a ruffle. Isn't it an amazing home decor idea? Well, try it and check out the appearance of your bedroom.
With the aforementioned tips on ruffle, you will definitely be able to pick the right piece and prevent the dust from collecting beneath your bed. Have a stylish and right fitting piece to adore your bedding and spruce up the beauty of your bedroom.
