Rough Hair

Your hair appears frizzy, dull, dry and rough because it lacks required amounts of natural oils and moisture. There can be numerous reasons behind the deficiency of oils and moisture. These include environmental, chemical, mechanical and genetic factors. Environmental factors are excessive exposure to sun and heat while chemical factors comprise, perming and bleaching agents. Similarly, you tend to mechanically damage your hair by blow drying, hot rollers and curling irons. Many people naturally have dry hair. Whatever be the dry hair cause, if you wish to improve your rough hair texture, you should work towards increasing your hair's ability to attract and retain moisture. This is possible if you provide it with sufficient amounts of oils, which tend to hold moisture into the hair.

Natural Treatment for Rough Hair
  • Do not wash your hair too frequently. Maintain a gap of minimum three days between consecutive shampooing. Make sure that you condition your hair well after every wash.
  • Do not use hot dryers, hot curlers and other things meant for hair styling. They tend to dry your hair even more over time.
  • Avoid swimming in a chlorinated water as this will make your rough hair more frizzy and dry. If you have to swim, then always do it with a head cap on.
  • Protect your hair from sun exposure. You may use a hair sunscreen before going out in sun.
  • Increase the intake of zinc, fatty acids and proteins in your daily diet. Follow it religiously for at least eight months. It will naturally lessen the roughness of your hair. Foodstuffs rich in proteins are fish, beans, meat and eggs.
  • Apply a hair mask made of heena and yogurt on your hair once in 15 days. This will make your hair smooth and manageable over a period of time.
  • Beer is considered to be one of the best known conditioners for hair. Spray it on your hair after every shampoo. You can use mayonnaise to get a similar effect but use it before washing.
  • Rough hair is devoid of required amounts of natural oil. You need to provide oil to it from outside. Massage your scalp or the roots of hair with warm coconut oil or olive oil. Do it once every third day or two hours before shampooing your hair. This will not only nourish your hair but will also prevent it from over-drying.
  • Apply coconut milk to the hair strands, and allow it to stay for about an hour. Wash the hair with a gentle shampoo. Doing it once a week will act as an effective rough hair treatment.
  • Massage your scalp well with warm mustard oil, apply 5-6 tablespoons of honey on your hair strands, and then wrap it with a warm and damp towel for about 20 minutes. Shampoo your hair well. Do it once a month to bring life to your rough and dull hair.
  • Mix the white part of an egg with a cup of milk. Massage your scalp and hair strands with it. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and then wash it off well with plenty of water. You may use a mild shampoo for thorough washing.
If the aforementioned rough hair home remedies fail in your case, you should visit a hair salon or a spa to get professional assistance. A healthy, smooth and well-conditioned hair is necessary for a beautiful looking you. Work for having one and be ready to grab the eyeballs.
