Aloe Vera Face Mask
If you are someone who reads the ingredients on various skincare products before buying them, you would have seen Aloe Vera featuring on many of them. The reason why Aloe Vera is used in beauty products is due to the presence of minerals, enzymes, vitamins and amino acids in it. These components make it a great cleanser, moisturizer and healer of skin.
Although, Aloe Vera gel is widely available and can be directly applied on the skin, yet if you want to derive the maximum benefits, use it in its most natural form. Prepare the mask at your home itself, apply it every week to see the unbelievable difference it makes to the texture of your skin!
Recipes
Aloe Vera is all natural, yet it can cause skin irritation in some people. That's why, before applying any of these masks, doing a patch test on your arm is advised. Given below are the recipes of Aloe Vera face mask for different skin types.
Acne-prone Skin
To prepare this, you will need a fresh Aloe Vera leaf and honey. Take the leaf, wash it thoroughly to get rid of the dirt on it and then cut it into very small-sized pieces. Next, take half a liter of filtered water and fill a pan with it. Put the cut leaf pieces in the water and keep it on the stove on low boil. Let the mixture boil for about fifteen minutes. After this, take it off the stove. Remove the pieces from water with a filter and immediately add about four tablespoons of honey to the hot water. Let the honey get dissolved in the water.
After about an hour or so, when the mixture has cooled down, apply it on the acne affected skin. Let this mixture remain on your skin for about fifteen minutes. After the stipulated time, wash off with a mild cleanser. See to it that the face mask is completely removed otherwise it can lead to skin irritation in some cases. Apply this once a week to get rid of acne and pimples.
Sun-damaged Skin
Aloe Vera is known for its healing properties, especially when it comes to soothing sun-damaged skin. To prepare this face mask, you would need Aloe Vera juice, Aloe Vera gel and rose essential oil. In a bowl, put about two tablespoons juice, half tablespoon gel and two drops of rose essential oil. Mix it properly and then apply it on the sun-damaged skin evenly. Face, arms, feet, neck, apply to all the skin areas exposed to the sun. Let the mixture remain on skin for about ten minutes and after that wash it off with warm water. Apply this every alternate day to get rid of sunburns.
Sensitive Skin
To prepare this moisturizing and soothing face mask, you would need Aloe Vera gel, yogurt and cucumber juice. Take a bowl and add about two tablespoons Aloe Vera gel, three tablespoons of cucumber juice and one tablespoon of plain yogurt in it. In case you do not have a juicer, to get cucumber juice, you can first grate it and then press it in a clean, muslin cloth to extract the juice. Mix all the three ingredients properly with a spoon.
Apply this face mask evenly on your entire face and neck. Let it remain on the skin for about fifteen minutes. After that, wash off with lukewarm water. The yogurt and cucumber cleanse the skin thoroughly and remove oil, dirt and other impurities from it. The gel soothes the sensitive skin, moisturizing it at the same time.
Facial Scrub
Aloe Vera can be used to prepare a scrubber as well. The face scrub will help you get rid of dead skin and at the same time, make your skin look soft and supple. To prepare this scrub, you would need milk, sugar and fresh Aloe Vera juice. Take two tablespoons of the juice, one tablespoon of sugar and half tablespoon of milk and mix them together in a bowl. Apply the mixture evenly on the face and let it remain there for about fifteen minutes. After that, pat some warm water on the face and remove the mask by rubbing your skin in a circular motion, using your fingertips. In the end, remove the remaining mixture with cold water and pat dry.
To summarize the benefits - it moisturizes the skin, heals the skin damaged by sun, helps in the removal of dead skin and acne, gives the skin a natural glow and makes it very soft and supple! On top of that, it is very easy to make a natural face mask using Aloe Vera at home! So, take advantage of this nature's bounty and get that unmissable glow on your face by applying Aloe Vera face mask regularly!
