Homemade Nail Polish Remover
We all have heard of the ill effects a harsh nail polish remover can cause. Frequent use of nail polish removers can make our nails weak and it also removes the natural protective coating from the nails. But, many women still use the same as they do not know the alternative for nail polish remover. Apart from harsh chemicals, a nail polish remover is costly and evaporates easily. So why pay for something that will extinct within few uses. For those who love experimenting with their nails with new colors everyday, a homemade nail polish remover can come in handy. There is no specific homemade nail polish remover recipe but there are many ingredients in our house that can be used as nail polish remover.
Given below are some of the things that are easily found in our house that remove the nail polish as effectively as any other fingernail polish remover:
Nail Polish: Yes, I am sure you have a bottle of nail polish at home. All you have to do is apply a thick coat of new nail polish on your nails and wipe it off immediately before it gets dry. The old nail polish will come off the nails with a new one. Isn't it easy, quick, and inexpensive?
Hot Water: If you have weak fingernails, then hot water is again one of the best natural homemade nail polish removers you can use. You need to heat a bowl of water to the temperature that you can tolerate. You must soak your fingers in the hot water for fifteen minutes. Once the nail polish becomes soft, scrape it off gently. This idea may be time-consuming but hot water is a complete natural nail care substance.
Perfume: Your perfume too can help you get rid of the ugly nail polish. Perfumes contain acetone which is one of the active nail polish ingredient found in commercial nail polish removers. If you are ready to spare some amount of it then try this idea. Take few drops of perfume on the cotton swab and wipe off the nail polish.
Rubbing Alcohol: Rubbing alcohol is one of the natural yet effective substance that has antibacterial qualities. It contains ethanol and ethyl alcohol that helps removing the nail polish. It may solve various fingernail problems if you are suffering from any. It is easily available in the market in small bottles for cheaper price. Take few drops of rubbing alcohol on the cotton swab and rub off the nail polish.
Hairspray: If you have hairspray or mousse then removing nail polish can be easier for you. Hairspray contains ingredients that are used in commercial nail polish removers. So, take a small amount of hairspray on the cotton swab and see the old nail polish getting vanished within few minutes.
Toothpaste: Toothpaste too is a strong contender when it comes to homemade nail polish removers. Using toothpaste as a remover can be a little messy but it is one thing that is readily available in every household. You need to apply small amount of toothpaste on your nails and then wipe it off with cotton gently. The old nail polish will come off the nails along with the paste.
Apart from this you can also use paint thinner, or a mixture of vinegar and citric fruits to remover nail polish at home. Acetone nail polish remover is also efficient but its safety is questionable. So, take your pick from the above nail polish removers and see your nails getting cleaned to don some more colors again!
