How to Plait Hair
A good hairstyle can make a great difference to your look. Have you ever tried to plait your hair? If not, you certainly need to try it. There are different ways to plait hair and sporting the braided look once in a while, would add an element of newness to your look. So, don't just stick to the same hairstyle all the time. Try different looks for yourself. It will surely enhance your appearance and fetch you compliments. If you don't know how to plait hair, here are some of the different ways of braiding hair:
The Basic Plait
This is the most basic plait. It is very simple. First comb your hair to get rid of any entangled hair. Then, divide your hair in three sections. Make sure you are distributing your hair evenly in all the three sections. Go to the right section and cross over the strands through the middle section. Hold your strands firmly. Now it's time to take the strands from the left section and cross them over the middle section. Tighten your grip. Keep crossing over the middle section as you alternate between right and left sections. When you are done with most of the hair, tie a nice elastic band.
The French Plait
Go the French way! First comb your hair well. They should not be entangled anywhere. You surely wouldn't want your French braid looking untidy. So, start your French plait only after you have combed your hair well. This hairstyle involves dividing your hair from the top of your head into five to seven layers. So, for the top layer, divide the strands into three parts. Other layers should be divided into two sections. Let's start with the top layer. Take strands from the top section of the head between your thumb and forefinger. Once you have a grip over these strands, separate these into three parts ensuring that you take equal amount of strands for all the three sections. Now is the time to start the job of plating your hair. This involves taking the left strand and crossing them over the center ones, and then crossing the right strands over the center ones. Do this crossing part with the top layers once.
Now, it's time to move on to the second layer, go over to the left side of the second layer and then add it to the first layer on the left side. Keep plaiting by crossing over the center portion. Now, go to the right side and take the strands from the second layer and add it to first layer on the right side. Again cross over the entire right section over the center portion. Do this with all the layers until all the layers have been added by crossing over through the middle. When all layers are done, continue like a basic braid and tie the end of the hair with a cute elastic band.
Scrunchy Plait
If you like the scrunchy look, then this is the plait that might work wonders for you. So comb your hair and gather them at a place where you wish to plait them. Divide your hair into two portions. Go to the extreme right side of the right portion and take strands that form a fifth of the strands. Now you need to cross over through the right and middle section to reach the left section. Add the strands to the left. Now you need to follow the same procedure by taking a fifth of the strands from the extreme left. So, cross over from the middle and add these strands to the right section. Keep taking strands and follow this until you covered all the layers and then end the braid as you would do in case of a basic braid and use a pretty elastic band to tie the end of the hair.
Cute Plait
Gather all your hair to the side of your head and make the basic plait. This looks cute. You could also try pinning this plait using a few hair pins. Pull your plait across the whole head. Pin it firmly. It looks very neat and elegant. You could leave a few strands, if you like that kind of look. In case you liked the idea of making plaits, you could opt for cornrow braids. There are many types of cornrow styles and many celebrities have donned cornrows.
Curl Hair with Plaits
Wet your hair and make 2 - 3 large thick braids tightly. Open it next day to get nice wavy hair. You could also make smaller braids using all your hair. Open them the next day, this will give you the crimped look. So, knowing how to braid will certainly give you more options as far as hairstyles are concerned.
These were a few simple ways of styling your hair in braids. Now that you know how to braid your hair, try the aforementioned hairstyles and see how these looks on you.
