Face Painting Ideas for Beginners

Well, well, What do we have here? The off shot of Celtic festival 'Samhain' is on the anvil. Yes, I am talking about the quintessential, supposed-to-be-scary and full of pranks and horror (nothing serious fellas!) HALLOWEEN! The Jack-o'-Lanterns are going to be back now after a year. Are you ready for it with your pumpkins, orange and black costumes and totally weird face paintings? If you have not yet thought of it, presenting to you a mixture of scary, nice and easy ideas.

Face Painting Ideas

There is a plethora of designs and you can be as creative as you want here. What is given in the following text is just an assortment of ideas based on yin and yang.

For Girls
Butterfly: Using pink or red or the shades closer to that on a sponge, apply it in a sweeping motion around the eyes for the wings. That is more than half the job done. The rest is just filling up the design of the wings and painting a dot on the forehead, between the eyebrows and three dots on the bridge of the nose below the main dot.

Scarecrow: The little angels would love this! This would start with an orangish-yellow base. Have a design like cross and knots on the cheeks and forehead with a curve on the top end using black and white paint. Extend the eyes with black paint and create an impression of a sewn mouth by painting black crosses divided by the lips. Even though this is a scarecrow, it is not one of those scary designs!

Pumpkin: Pumpkin is by far the easiest one! For this, paint a bright orange pumpkin on each cheek. Paint the eyes, nose and mouth with black on the pumpkin. To add an extra touch, do the border of the pumpkin with gray.

Stars: You need not be too hassled for this nor do you need elaborate face painting kits. At the most you would need 4 colors to paint stars of different colors. I guess I do not need to tell you how to paint stars!

Green-faced Witch: For this not so scary green faced witch, you have to start off with a green base. Have gruesome black lines on chin, cheek, coupled with white and dark green lines above eyebrows. Paint the eyebrows and lips black and rim the eyes with black lines for a witch-like effect.

For Boys
Skeleton: Boys, be it young or old, always love gory, scary and horrifying things! Therefore, this is especially dedicated to boys, for Halloween. Skull or the skeleton is one of the most common patterns for Halloween.

Vampire: Okay! This cannot get any more scary. So after skeleton we have the Vampire, again, exclusively for the boys! But do not worry, this is not a tough ask. Beginners can do it. Paint the face white as the base. Paint the lips bright red (Yes just like Edward Cullen in Twilight!) and have fangs coming out of the corners of the lower lip. The outline for the fangs should be gray, the filling color white and tip red for denoting blood. This is the basic, if you want, you can always improvise. This is one of the coolest look!

Clown: This is another popular choice with minimum painting supplies. Extend the mouth with red paint first and give a white and black outline. Have black-rimmed white dimples at the ends. Then enlarge the eyes using white, green and black (outline). You are done!

Pirate: There could nothing as simple as this! Just blacken one eye, have a medium thick mustache. May be you can have a tiny skull symbol on the cheek on the sides or on the chin. Apart from this, you can embellish the pirate's face with anything you want to!

Superhero: Here comes the ultimate design. This is done in jiffy and is almost as easy as the previous design. Apply a green paint around the eyes, as in a mask with a black outline. Enhance the eyebrows with a pad applicator.

All these designs were not an uphill task, were they? In case you are keen on elaborate and very intricate painting, you always have professional people to draw for you. They would give a proper step by step demonstration to you.
