Grapeseed Oil for Skin
When it comes to taking care of one's health or beauty, people are going back to the basics. Many are turning into vegetarians, and as far as skincare is concerned, are discarding the chemically laden cosmetics for natural products. One such natural skincare product which has caught the fancy of many a woman is grapeseed oil. Although, it has been previously widely used for cooking and baking, researchers are now proclaiming that it has some amazing benefits for the skin as well.
For those of you who wonder, 'Is grapeseed oil good for the skin?', it is first of all important to know how this oil is made. Grapeseed oil is made when the seeds of vitis vinifera grape are pressed under extreme heat conditions. The Vitis Vinifera grape is very commonly used for wine making. Grapeseed oil is pale green in color, light in texture and is almost odorless. All these qualities make it an excellent oil for the skin.
Moisturizes
Grape seed oil can be very easily absorbed by the skin. When applied on the skin, there are hardly any oil residues left. Also, this oil helps in tissue regeneration. Its ability to lock in the moisture and repair the tissues, makes grapeseed oil very useful and effective as a skin moisturizer.
Tones and Tightens
Grapeseed oil is known to have astringent properties. So, if applied regularly on the skin, it helps in skin tightening and toning. People with oily skin can especially benefit from its regular application.
Prevents Under-eye Circles
Another use is that if applied on the skin around the eyes every night before sleeping, it can help in minimizing the dark circles within weeks. Unlike other eye creams, grapeseed oil is completely chemical free, making it a good choice for applying on sensitive areas such as under the eyes.
Cures Acne
Grape seed oil is very rich in linoleic acid, a fatty acid which helps in maintaining the cell membranes as well as the skin. Thus, its regular application can help in treating many of the skin problems such as acne. Many women use grapeseed oil for face acne because of its anti-inflammatory and anti oxidant properties. Its regular applications helps in preventing the pores from clogging, thus reducing the incidence of acne breakouts.
Minimizes Appearance of Wrinkles
Grapeseed oil is rich in antioxidants such as proanthocyanidins which help in reversing the damages of skin aging. That's why many women use grapeseed oil for wrinkles. Besides being rich in antioxidants, it has skin moisturizing and nourishing properties. So, if applied on dry skin, it keeps the skin hydrated ,and as everybody knows, hydrated skin is less likely to get fine lines and wrinkles than a dry one.
Other Uses
Some of the fatty acids which make grapeseed oil for beauty enhancing ideal are palmitoleic, stearic, alpha linolenic, docosanoic, icosenoic and icosanoic. These fatty acids have many uses for the skin such as they help in protecting it from the sun, aid in wound healing, shrink varicose veins and are even known to reduce stretch marks.
As seen, there are many advantages of using grape seed oil for skin care. Certain scientific studies have shown that its antioxidant properties are even greater than those of Vitamin C and E. Not to mention the skin repairing, astringent and antiseptic properties it has. So, massage grapeseed oil onto your skin everyday after taking a shower and flaunt the resultant ravishing glow throughout the day.
