Hair Care Home Remedies


Hair has three different textures - dry, normal and oily. Every texture of hair has its own share of problems. Dry hair tends to become dull every time shampoo is applied on them. In oily hair, oil is secreted by the oil glands lying under the scalp which make the hair oily and as a result dust and dirt get attracted to it and make the hair look dull. Therefore, home remedies for each hair type is different.

Hair Care at Home

Today, female hair loss is a common problem that many women suffer from. For them, a mixture of amla and lemon juice is an excellent remedy. Prepare a thick paste by mixing one tablespoon each of amla powder and lemon juice. If required, add some water to make the paste smooth. Apply it to the hair regularly for one month. Thus, your problem of hair loss will come to an end and will make your hair healthy too.Dandruff is a major hair problem. To get rid of it, soak 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Make a paste of the soaked fenugreek and apply it on the scalp. Leave it on the scalp for about half an hour and then wash it off properly. It works wonder on dandruff.

Some women find it difficult to grow their hair fast. A simple solution to this problem is massaging of hair with coconut milk. Even warm mustard oil which has been boiled with henna leaves can be used for this purpose. The blood circulation of the scalp improves due to massaging and thus, facilitates fast growth of hair.

Young girls with long hair often have the problem of lice in hair. Regular application of neem paste into the scalp before shampooing will help to get rid of this problem.

Conditioning of hair is very important to maintain the health of hair. One of the best hair conditioning home remedies is rosemary oil. Massaging the oil well into the hair will make the texture of the hair soft and silky.

After every wash handle your wet hair very carefully. Wet hair often gets stretched more than dry hair and thus, leads to brittle hair. Avoid use of dryer on hair as much as possible. Let your hair dry up naturally.

The sun can cause extensive damage to the hair. Therefore, for the protection of your hair every time you step out into the sun, make sure you wear a hat or cover your hair with a scarf. Thus your hair will not only stay protected from the sun but also from dirt and dust.

Home Remedies for Dry Hair

If you have dry hair then you have to make a lot of efforts for hair care. Dry hair become so rough after shampooing that it becomes difficult to manage. In order to provide nourishment to dry hair, massage your hair well with a paste made of two tablespoons of gram flour and one cup of coconut milk. Then rinse it off after 5-10 minutes. Do this at least once a week and you will be surprised to see the difference it makes to your hair. Regular conditioning of hair is a must for dry hair. You can make a homemade conditioner for your dry hair using one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon of protein and one tablespoon each of glycerin and castor oil in a mild herbal shampoo. Apply it properly on the scalp and leave it behind for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off. It has been found that deficiency of zinc in diet often leads to dry hair. So, if you have dry hair include more and more such foods in your diet that are rich in zinc content.

Hair Care for Oily Hair

Oily hair is mostly a hereditary problem. As oily hair gets dirty very easily, it requires frequent washing. You should shampoo your hair at least 2-3 times in a week. Boil some mint leaves in a glass of water for around 20 minutes. Then strain out the leaves and mix the mint water in the shampoo. Use it for shampooing your hair on every alternate days. It absorbs excessive oil present in the scalp and thus, the hair becomes less oily. Applying fresh lemon juice on the scalp also helps to remove oil from the scalp. Another excellent home remedy for removal of oil from hair is tea, as it contains tannic acid that acts as astringent. Boil a pot of tea and allow it to cool down. Dilute it with water. Use it as the last rinse after shampooing your hair. Thus the oiliness of hair will decrease to a great extent. Never use conditioner after shampooing oily hair as it can make hair limp. Do not brush your oily hair too much because with every brushing, the oil spreads from the roots to the ends.
