High Rise Jeans
For many years low rise jeans had been in fashion, and it looked like it would reign supreme for years. However, emerging fashion trends show that high rise jeans or high-waisted jeans are back in fashion. This style of denims were popular in the 70s but gradually was ousted by the more sexier low rise jeans. But this season it has made a comeback and high rise denim are seen on many celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Mischa Barton, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Simpson. It is a difficult trend to pull off and if you are not careful you might end up looking frumpy and unfashionable. Also, the sad fact is that this style of jeans is not for everybody and if your figure does not permit you to wear them, then you are better off sticking to mid rise jeans.
High Rise Jeans for Women
Unlike low waist jeans and super low waist jeans that are sometimes not figure flattering or appropriate, high rise jeans do not suffer from these drawbacks. It looks good on almost all kinds of figure from super skinny ones to women with curvier figure. It accentuates the curves of a woman and makes her look taller. It is one of best jeans for short women. Since high-waisted jeans start at the narrowest point of your torso, it makes your legs seem as long as a supermodel's. Paired with high heels, this denim style can work for an evening out. High-waisted jeans are available in skinny fit and the wide legged style. Unless you are a runway model with a perfect 10 figure, avoid the wide legged style of high-waist denims.
Many women who wear low waist jeans complain that since the waistband of the jeans sits so low on the hips, it creates what is known as muffin top. Muffin top is nothing but a pooch that is created by super tight, skinny and low rise jeans. This problem is effectively taken care of in high rise jeans. Since the waistband of high-waisted jeans sits high on your waist, it eliminates the appearance of a pooch. However, women with a prominent paunch and who do not have a flat tummy, should avoid high-waist jeans. it accentuates a paunch and makes a person look flabby and heavy. The most flattering high-waisted jeans for girls is one that comes in a darker hue like charcoal, black or indigo. These colors look good on every figure and makes a woman look instantly slimmer and taller. This is therefore the best style of jeans for curvy women.
Always pair high rise jeans with proper accessories and tops. A light silk top with an open V neck looks great with high-waisted jeans. Avoid closed neck tops like turtlenecks if you are heavy chested. Light and feminine fabric like silk, lace and linen pairs well with high rise denim. Knowing the correct shoes to wear with jeans is also essential for pulling off this trend with elan. High heels with pointy toes or kitten heels looks good with this style of denim. You can even wear peep-toe pumps, slingbacks and bejeweled heels. However avoid anything too chunky like structured heels, block heels and wedge heels. If you would rather wear flats, then go ahead and wear ballet pumps and court shoes. All these styles of shoes are just perfect with high-waisted jeans.
High-waisted jeans for men are also available in some select stores and fashion boutiques. High rise denims are here to stay, so make sure that you purchase a pair that looks flattering on you.
