High-Waisted Pants
After eons of seeing people wearing low rise jeans, winds of change have hit the fashion world. It is time to say hello to high-waisted pants. While skirts with high waists have been around for a while, the fashion of wearing high-waisted pants is a relatively new one. If you love the design style and want to ape your favorite fashion icon, then you need to learn how to wear these pants. Here is everything you would want to know about the fashion trend.
High-Waisted Pants for Women
First and foremost, it is important to know that in case you want to wear high-waisted pants, then you need to be sure about the trend. It is an item of clothing that can drastically change the way a person looks. While with high-waisted skirts, the cinched waist emphasizes the fall and flow of the skirt, this would not remain true for pants. With a completely different silhouette, these pants can create an image very disparate from the femininity that you could have been aiming for. One of the best things about high-waisted clothing is that it creates the illusion of a taller, and slimmer figure, but wearing the wrong pants pattern can make the experience quite nightmarish.
Wearing high-waisted pants will more often than not create an illusion of a slimmer you, as they camouflage the slight tummy that many of us have. If you have a body type where you have a long torso and short legs, then these pants are God's gift to you, as they help you look longer than you actually are. Also since it cuts off the waist, it helps creating an illusion of tiny torso. It is important to accept that after a certain age wearing low waist jeans or shorts just does not make the cut. You have to switch over to wearing high-waisted jeans and high-waisted hot pants. Choose pants in materials like cotton, knit, polyester, etc. Always think about the style and comfort that the material will provide you with. If durability is a concern, then choose a material that you know will last long. Buy high-waisted pants in a classic cut, so that you can wear them for a few years, unconcerned by changes in the fashion world.
One of the biggest problems that most people talk about while talking about high-waisted shorts or pants is the fact that it has a tendency to make one's hips look much wider than it actually is. While for people who are incredibly skinny, this can be a blessing in disguise, with most fuller women, this can be a bit of an issue. Also since these pants are a throwback from fashion trends that were in vogue a few decades ago, with proper accessorizing, these pants can make you look dowdy and frumpy. The best way to avoid this problem is to buy pants in solid, dark colors. A pair of high-waisted black pants can work wonders if worn well.
It is also important to remember that these pants are not restricted to women's clothing alone. If comfortable with the idea, then even men can don these pants too, but the silhouettes are more restrictive. For women, you can choose from different silhouettes, from the much preferred wide leg pants to the more uncommon tapered pants. Choose the style that flatters you the most. High-waisted pants can be slightly uncomfortable when worn for the first time, but as you get used to the silhouette, you should have no problem wearing a pair with panache and style.
