How to Apply Blush
Blusher is something that most women avoid wearing as a wrongly applied blush can ruin the whole makeup. Though some women are experts in the art of makeup i.e. while applying foundation, eye makeup, lipstick, etc., when it comes to the application of blusher, they try to avoid it. This is because if the blush is not applied in the correct way, it can make a person look like a clown. However, blusher is a very important as it gives a finishing touch to the overall makeup. Hence, it is important to know the appropriate way of applying blush after completing the rest of the makeup.
Selecting the Correct Blusher
Before we try to know about this procedure properly, it is important to know about the different types of blushers available in the market. This is because to apply the blusher properly, one must select one that suits one's skin type as well as skin tone. Hence, let us take a look at the different types of blushers one can choose.
Type of Blusher: Blushers are available in three forms namely cream, powder and liquid form. The powder form is the one that is most commonly used by women as it is very easy to apply it. The type of blush should be chosen according to your skin type. If you have dry skin, cream blushes are the best for you as they contain moisturizer. On the other hand, powder blush is best for people who have oily skin. Apart from that, blushers made of liquid as well as gel is also good for oily skinned people as they dry soon after application.
Color of Blusher: Once you have chosen the type of blusher, the next thing that you have to select is the blush color. It is important to choose a blush color that suits the occasion as well as the time of the day. For instance, the blush color for a day time makeup should be a light color, preferably one that is closest to your lip color. Experts are of the opinion, the best blush color would be one that the cheeks attain after exercising. For this, you can pinch your cheeks and opt for the blusher that matches with the color of the cheeks. On the other hand, for a dramatic evening makeup, a darker tone will look the best. If you have a fair to medium fair skin tone, colors like pink, rose, pale rose, tan, coral, etc. will look good. However, if you have a tan skin tone, it will be best to use a tawny brown color as a blusher.
Blusher Brush: Another important thing that one has to keep in mind before applying the blusher is the type of brush used. Most blushers have a thin brush with it. However, to apply the blusher perfectly, it would be best to use a soft brush that is rounded on the top. Choose a brush that is medium-sized and that which is made of natural fibers. People often use the powder brush for applying blusher. This should be completely avoided and it is better to invest on a good blusher brush. To ensure that one is able to use the brush for a long time, it is important to clean them regularly.
How to Apply a Blusher
A little amount of blush on the cheekbone can add a glow to the face. However, the mistake most people do while applying blush is that they put too much of it. The most important thing to remember is that application of blusher should be minimal. Before applying the blusher, make sure that you apply the foundation as well as little powder on your face. Gently swirl the brush on the blusher so that the tip of the brush is evenly coated with the blusher.
Take a tissue paper and tip off some of the excess powder from the brush. Once you have done this, look into the mirror and smile. Focus on the apple of your cheeks i.e. the area of your cheeks that stand out when you smile. Lightly apply the blusher with upper strokes (towards your hairline) on the apple of the cheeks as well as below it. Apply till you get the shade that you want. You can also alter the shape of your face by using the blusher. For instance, if you want to know about application of blush on a round face, one needs to use it sideways on the cheekbones to make the face look slender. On the other hand, if a person has a long face, one needs to apply the powder on the most prominent area of the cheekbone and then, blend it towards the temples.
Bronzer is a cosmetic product that can make your skin look tanned. So, if you want to look sun kissed, a bronzer is your best bet. Choose a bronzer which is at least two shades darker than your skin. Even bronzer is available in three forms, namely liquid, powder and cream. You can choose one that suits you the best. Apply the bronzer on your cheekbones with a fluffy brush or with your fingers, in case you are using cream based one. However, bronzer is not a substitute for blusher. Once you have used the bronzer, apply the blusher over it to achieve a long-lasting look.
To ensure that your blusher does not give you an overdone or a heavy look, do not forget to get it checked in daylight. In the beginning, you may find it difficult to apply blusher properly, however, once you get hold of it, no one can stop you from looking gorgeous.
