Plaid Skirts
The sexy schoolgirl may have passed out of school and transformed into a sexy woman now, but the one thing she does not want to get rid of from her wardrobe is the plaid skirt. That's right! Of course she wouldn't flaunt one of those pleated plaid skirts for girls that was part of her school uniform once; now that she's a grown up woman. But she sure wants a plaid skirt to get the schoolgirl look. Cute, chic and sexy, that's what these plaid skirts make a woman look. The point to be noted here though is that plaid skirts do not suit everyone. The lady has to have the right body and the confidence to carry it (Hope this motivates girls/women who are slightly on the heavier side!). Of course if you know how to dress smartly then the body shape and weight should not be a concern at all. Knowing how to wear pleated skirts is extremely important for avoiding a clumsy look. If not worn correctly, if not teamed up with the right top and the right pair of shoes, then sorry to say ladies, but you are going to end up making a mockery of yourself.
Different Styles of Plaid Skirts
Plaid skirts are nothing but skirts with a plaid pattern. What's a plaid pattern now? It is a cross hatched pattern that is created by weaving threads perpendicularly, after which these bands of threads are dyed in different colors. Earlier plaid skirts were considered to be formal and with that thought pleated skirts for school originated. Plaid started getting noticed when some girls wore their formal skirts for schools at a shorter length and since then it has taken women by storm. Plaid shirts for women also is one of those fashion trends that goes on and off from the women's clothing. Now plaid skirts come in a few different styles and one can choose which kind would suit them the best.
Mini Skirts
These are perfect plaid skirts for juniors when they are in college. Mini plaid skirts would certainly make the head turn of that guy you've been having a crush on. And moreover you could also make the other girls jealous of your sweet and innocent yet suave looks. These skirts also come in the form of wraps with a trim which gives a little formal look unlike the typical mini skirts. Plaid skirts with an attached belt adds to the playful look. Mini plaid skirts look their best when they are worn with thigh-high boots or even high-heeled knee length boots. Teaming it up it a pair of flats would be a real bad idea, in a fact it's like committing a fashion sin. To stay with the sweet girl look you could wear it with a sweater and for a bold look a plain t-shirt, a solid color top or a jacket would be a good idea.
A-Line Skirts
Do you have a great figure and are you the sorts who doesn't like to wear short skirts or are not comfortable with such lengths? If you said yes and if you are equally in love with the plaid skirts as many other women, A-line skirts are meant for you! A-line is one of those flattering cuts that accentuate a woman's body. Both pleated plaid skirts and the ones with a flat front come in an A-line cut and they mostly come in knee length. High-heeled formal shoes go well this style of plaid skirt.
Pencil Skirts
Pencil plaid skirts are again for a formal look and therefore it makes a great outfit for business wear. Pencil skirts look elegant and a poised woman can most definitely carry it well. Pencil skirts can be worn with cardigans or sweaters. Short-sleeved collared shirts and blouses also go well with these skirts. And the shoes could be formal high-heeled shoes for knee-length pencil skirts. For mini pencil skirts, it's knee length boots again.
Long Skirts
Long plaid skirts are the least favorite and popular when they are available in shorter length such as the mini and the knee length skirts. If you are looking for a long plaid skirt, it could be difficult to find in the market. But if you happen to find one, then it could be worn as a casual wear when teamed with spaghetti tops and a pair of flats as your footwear.
When it comes to colors, typically these plaid skirts used to come in red and were quite popular as it was displayed and often worn by many people and even celebs. (Any blur memories of Baby one more time by Britney Spears?). Yes that one. But with the demand of different colors they are now available in various colors that include the blues, the purples, the greens, the blacks and many more. Don't worry, pink is not eliminated from the list either. So go pick this piece of fashion clothing and wear it correctly with the right pair of shoes and a nice top.
