What are the Best Colors to Wear
Imagine a life without color. Colors help to evoke certain kinds of feelings within us either consciously or sub-consciously. Color psychology is therefore very much a studied subject where the relation of colors with human feelings is revealed. In fact, every color denotes a particular meaning. Such is the popularity, that color therapy is applied to many aspects of our life. From fashion to interiors, colors have always played a major role in our lives.
The most elegant of people look classy not because they shop for outfits from famous fashion designers. They look elite simply because of the right choice in terms of colors. The changing fashion trends may throw up loads of styles your way, however, the trick remains in picking up an outfit with colors that best complement your personality. So, how would one knows what colors to wear? How does one co-ordinate colors well? Here are some fashion tips to select the most appropriate colors.
Colors that Suit You Best
Obviously that gorgeous red dress you have seen in the shop window may not really suit your body shape or skin tone. Picking up something that only looks good in the display is a common fashion blunder. Here's how to avoid such fashion faux pas.
If you have a skin tone that is on the pale or fair side, you would need to wear bold or solid colors that bring out more depth in your overall look. Light shades may tend to make you look slightly paler and may not always complement you in every way. In case you really love wearing pastel shades such as light blue or light pink, you can team it with bottoms of a darker shade for a sharp contrast. Of course, do not go overboard with bright colors to avoid having harsh contrasts. You can wear toned down shades of red, orange, yellow and purple. Off-white tops with dark brown bottoms can look ideal for the professional look.
Those who have dark skin tones should opt for light shades for a contrast. You must wear shades that complement your skin tone and hair color. Therefore, avoid shades on the darker side such as dark brown, magenta, dark pink and black. If it's a must to wear these colors, remember to use them in minimum proportions.
People with medium skin tones are luckier in terms of selection of colors. People who belong to this group can safely select light/pale colors as well as dark shades. These can help to create a beautiful contrast with the natural skin tone. A person with a medium skin tone can look good in shades of beige, blue, pink or even burgundy! Red is something that should be avoided.
The various seasons can also dictate moods of a person. There are certain shades, which look their best for a particular season. Muted shades such as browns or deep blues look best for winter. The summer only means you can bring out all the colorful attire. Summer clothing is about bright, pretty dresses and short skirts! Knee-length skirts in medium tones best suit the rainy season. The rains are a great time to wear capris in shades of blue with a bright jumper to drive away the 'blues'!
Of course, there can be no strict rule about the kind of colors you need to include in your wardrobe. The main thing you would need to have to carry off any kind of color or outfit is oodles of confidence. Create new looks with different silhouettes and shades and team it up with a dazzling smile! You are bound to make heads turn!
