Famous Tattoos
Not one great country can be named, from the polar regions in the north to New Zealand in the south, in which the aborigines do not tattoo themselves.
Charles Darwin
This is one of the most famous quotes that proves that tattoo making was a form of art known to man since ancient times. It was popular in the ancient Egypt, Greece and many other parts of the world. Later, it regained popularity in the 20th century and today, tattooing is one of the most popular form of art in the whole world. It is equally popular among men and women of all age groups. And now that many celebrities are found sporting different tattoo designs, its fame has reached new heights. Do you also wish to have a tattoo made on your body? Then you may come across simply myriad patterns and symbols that can be used as tattoo designs. If you wish to have a perfect (and non-controversial) permanent tattoo, then you can go for those designs that are already popular, as they are safer options.
Most Popular Tattoos
Although tattooing is equally popular among men and women, there are certain designs that are meant for men or for women as they appear masculine or feminine respectively.
Heart Tattoo
The heart is one of the most popular and recognizable symbols in the world which stands for love. The heart also symbolizes commitment, relationship, passion, etc. Therefore, if you are in love and wish to express your love for your beloved, you can go for the heart tattoo. There are several designs options available in case of heart tattoos like the bleeding heart, the heart with the dagger, heart with wings, etc. Also, heart tattoos with names are one of the best designs for men and women. This design is usually made on the chest, upper arm or back of the neck.
Butterfly Tattoo
One may not be aware, but, the butterfly is one of the most symbolic tattoo design. The modest looking butterfly is associated with deeper meanings like freedom, transformation, metamorphosis, change, etc. It is also one of the most favored tattoos designs for women as it stands for beauty and grace. A butterfly tattoo is made smaller in size and is placed on wrist, arms, neck or feet. It is also sometimes paired with flower or vine tattoos.
Nautical Star Tattoo
Next to the heart and the butterfly, ranks the nautical star tattoo for being one of the most famous tattoos in the world. In the earlier times, this five-pointed star was used by sailors to seek directions. Today the nautical star tattoo is believed to guide the wearer in life. It also stands for good luck and good fortune. It can be made on wrist, arms, chest, neck, lower back, etc. Sometimes, two or more stars can also be tattooed together to form a more elaborate design.
Zodiac Tattoo
Zodiac tattoos have gained a lot of popularity in the recent years. Every Zodiac sign has a particular symbol or glyph associated with it which can be used as a tattoo design. All the symbols of the Zodiac are attractive and artistic and hence, form one of the best tattoo designs. The Zodiac symbols also look best when made into tribal tattoos. They can be made on any part of the body.
Text Tattoo
If you do not wish to have a symbol, but, find a quote or phrase or a verse that is more meaningful; you can incorporate it into your tattoo. There are attractive fonts and styles available that can be used while tattooing. You can look for meaningful scripts in different languages like Italian, French, Japanese, etc. Texts can also be used to make wrist tattoos by inscribing them in circular form like that of a bracelet.
Dragon Tattoo
The dragon is one of the awe-inspiring creatures found in mythical stories and folk literature. The dragon symbolizes power, might, strength, leadership, etc. and hence is one of the most loved tattoos for men. A dragon tattoo, made in colorful and vibrant colors, forms one of the most attractive and bewitching tattoo designs. You can either draw simply the head of the dragon or the complete picture with it blowing out flames. As dragon tattoos are larger in size, they are made on the back or upper arms.
Flower Tattoo
Flowers are always considered feminine designs and hence, flower tattoos are favored by women a lot. As there are simply thousands of varieties of flowers known to man, one has an endless choice of options and there are lesser chances of the design being repeated by someone else. Flower tattoos can be combined with butterfly or vine tattoos to form delicate and graceful tattoo designs. Also many flowers have certain meanings associated with them like the rose stands for love and passion; daisy and lily for innocence; orchid for beauty; marigold for riches, etc. The flower tattoos can also be made on any part of the body.
Apart from these, cross, Koi fish, sun and moon, etc. are some other famous tattoo designs. One of the advantages of going for these tattoos is that they never go out of fashion. Lastly, one should remember that permanent tattoo making and removal is a painful process and hence, one needs to put in a lot of thought before going for it. Good luck!
