Kitchen Design Plans

Modern kitchen countertops and kitchen cabinets are basically designed on the principles of basic one-dimensional geometric figures, such as squares, triangles and rectangles. The corner points or rather the vertices of all the figures that are used to design the kitchen, have either a refrigerator, a cupboard, a range or a sink located on them. On the basis of this principle, some small and basic kitchen design floor plans have been made. The following are some of the prominent kitchen design ideas that have evolved conventionally.

Basic Plans for Designing a Kitchen

One Wall Design
One wall design is the basic kitchen design and has a straight kitchen platform with all the bigger kitchen appliances i.e: refrigerator, cupboard, range and kink all placed in one straight line, with the wall behind acting as the support. The one walled design is a very commonly used kitchen design plan and is also very cheap to implement. The one walled design is very to use if you want to combine the kitchen and the dining room or living room. Many advanced kitchen plans and floor plans are based on the one walled design.

Corridor Plan
The corridor plan is a version of the one walled plan. The plan is basically implemented in places where the kitchens have two doors, or is located in the corridor. The corridor kitchen design plan basically includes two kitchen platforms that are parallel to each other. These design plans for kitchen are very conveniently used for places where kitchens are relatively smaller in length and width.

The L-shaped Design
The L-shaped design is also a very common design, that is implemented in old styled houses, where kitchen and dining rooms are combined with each other. The only drawback of this style is that, the gadgets that are placed at the two corners, make the person working in the kitchen, walk a few extra steps!

The Double L Design
This type of layout has two L's that are located parallel to each other. The double L is more easy to use than the normal L layout due to the fact that the surface area that is used gets extended. The double L also enables the user of the kitchen, to have more than one sink or range in the kitchen. The double L is prominently seen in places where the living room and kitchen are combined. The smaller L-shaped platform in such cases acts as a partition between the two rooms. Another advantage of these types of kitchen design plans, is that one can also use the smaller platform as a table top to have meals.

U-Shaped Design
The U-shaped design is basically used in smaller kitchens. Just as the name suggests, this kitchen design plan is U-shaped and also very convenient to use. One may call it an advanced version of the corridor plan. The U-shaped platform design is very convenient to design and build.

The best way to choose an appropriate plan is to visualize the kitchen and to select the best one, to suit the size and dimensions of the kitchen.
