Beauty Regimen for Brides
A woman looks her absolute best on her wedding day, that's something that we all take for granted. And why not? We have every woman who has ever been a bride as testimony. But there's a lot that goes into getting her to look her fabulous self on the big day. It is a rigorous regimen that she has to follow and maintain, so that she captivates her groom's heart all over again, when she appears on the other end of the aisle. This Buzzle article has some very common sense tips on a beauty regimen that you're probably already familiar with to give you the much coveted bridal glow!
Hair
Any bride's hair needs to look absolutely stunning on her wedding day. So, what you need to decide first is what kind of hairdo you're going to be sporting on the big day. If you're planning to go for a long hairstyle, then start growing your hair at least 5-6 months in advance. Make sure you keep your regular trimming appointments to avoid dry, frizzly split ends. Also, start taking good care of your hair by treating it to a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. Make that twice a week if you have dry hair. If you can afford one, hire a professional expert to take care of your hair and advice you on what kind of treatments it needs. Alternatively, you can use good products from reputed companies and your hair will be taken care of. You can also whip up your own concoctions for healthy hair, right at home, by using only those ingredients that suit your hair. This way you have no fear of harmful chemicals and the like. Simultaneously, make sure that the hairdresser that you intend to appoint for your hair, whether your local favorite or a flashy designer one, is available on your wedding day! Else, you'll have a glorious mane to flaunt, but no fancy hairstyle!
Face
Your face is going to glow on your wedding day, that's a given. However, there are certain things that even a bride needs to take care of so that said glow remains on the face until the very end of the day. So, about 5-6 months prior to the wedding, begin taking good care of your skin. You can consult a dermatologist if you have any skin problems, and if not, indulge in very simple tactics to make sure that your face has that much expected shine on your D-day. First of all, stop exposing your facial skin to harsh sunrays and pollution. Use a scarf to protect your face, or if you're not accustomed to wearing scarves, cover your face when you're in a polluted area with a soft handkerchief at the very least. Eat healthy, so that your skin gets adequate nourishment. Gorge on fruits and greens. Avoid oily and spicy foods that can make your face sprout up in pimples or other skin problems. Give your face a gentle cleansing massage every night and make sure that you maintain the hydration in your skin by drinking as much water as you can. Use good face packs, facial scrubs, under eye creams, moisturizer, and a good sunscreen to smoothen out possible wrinkles. If you've been using one that suits your skin, but want to switch to another, try it out much in advance. Don't do it two weeks before the wedding. You never know how a product will react and how much time the reaction will take to revert. Also, don't ignore your lips. Moisturize them with petroleum jelly or any other appropriate balm that you use to prevent them from chapping or drying, especially if yours is a winter wedding. Also make sure that the makeup you use on the final day is something that your skin is used to and does not cause any allergic reactions.
Body
Now comes the biggie! You have to be in stunning shape on your big day. So, if you need to lose or put on a few pounds, then fix a goal weight and begin working towards achieving it, at least 4 months prior to the wedding. Four months is a decent enough period, and does not require you to go on a crash diet. So, eat right, and exercise enough so that you can reach your target weight and then maintain it, at least till your wedding day. If your wedding dress is decided much before this, then you could use it as an added encouragement. You know that you must fit into it so your target weight cannot be breached! But weight's not the only issue. Whatever method you use for hair removal, stick to it. Don't experiment with it, unless it's way before the wedding. This gives you a buffer to see if the new method agrees with your skin or not. Also, a week before the wedding, you can treat yourself to a luxurious massage, a body scrub and a body polish, again, one that suits you. Another important point to be taken into consideration is the fabric of the dress and the material of the wedding jewelry. Make sure that you're not allergic to either of them by wearing clothes and jewelry made from the same material for a whole day before you finalize them.
Nails
Many brides tend to ignore their nails, and end up with rather unpleasant looking shots of their wedding rings being worn. So, if you're one of those nervous nail biters, then STOP NOW! Trust me, I have a cousin who didn't stop biting her nails and she ended up using some really ugly fake nails, which let's face it, are no match for natural ones. Get your regular manicures and pedicures to ensure that your hands and feet are as soft, supple and gorgeous as the rest of you. Finalize what you'll be doing with your nails on the wedding day, at least two weeks in advance by trying out different things like colored nails, nail art, French manicures, etc. Make sure whatever you decide to do for your nails complements your wedding dress, the jewelry and the entire look you're planning to sport.
There you have it! A complete head to toe guide on all the things that you need to include as a part of your beauty regimen before the big day. They're fairly simple things that you're probably already aware of. So, just revise them, customize them, and follow them. You're going to look like a million bucks anyway! This will just seal the deal completely!
