Hair Frosting
Hair frosting is one of those hair lightening methods, that can be done in various different ways. If you are averse to the idea of coloring the entire hair, you can opt for frosting. This involves lightening some parts of hair, allowing others to remain dark. The most important factor regarding this method is that the hair has to be bleached in such a way that the light hair blend in with the dark ones naturally.
What is Hair Frosting
So, frosting is a method of hair lightening, that involve bleaching of individual strands or hair tips. When don on hair tips, the method is known as tipping. This method of hair coloring produces a salt and pepper finish to the hair. It is always better to get it done at a salon, but, some people try this at home. Nowadays, hair frosting kits are also available in the market. Tipping is one of the popular types of frosting and is suitable for those with short or layered haircuts.
Frosting Hair Ideas
This technique can be done in many different ways, so as to create unique styles as it is done by adopting hair color ideas. Tipping is one of the popular hair frosting style, especially in young men. In case of tipping, only a few inches (one or two) of the hair tips are frosted, so as to get a dramatic effect. This method is best for people with short hair and those with spiky or layered haircuts. Another method is to create frosted layers in hair. This is done by frosting layers of hair, thereby producing a stunning contrast between the frosted layers and the remaining untreated sections. This method is best suited for short haircuts or layered hair of medium length. You can also go for frosted highlights, which creates various shades of blond in hair. Another method is reverse frosting, which is mainly done in hair, that is too light. In reverse frosting, small parts of hair are colored with darker shades. In this case, shades that are closer to the natural hair color are selected. This gives a more natural look to the hair.
Usually, hair frosting cap with holes are secured around the head tightly. A pulling needle is used to take out strands of hair through the holes. The next step is the application of the prepared bleach on the hair strands that are covered with cling wrap. It takes around 30 to 50 minutes to achieve the desired color. So, the hair color is checked every now and then. Once the hair get the desired color, rinsing, shampooing and conditioning is done, with the frosting cap on. After applying the conditioner, the cap is removed and the hair is rinsed again. This is the process of frosting, but, it is always advisable to get the frosting done from a salon for best results. If you want to try it at home, the above said tips can be of some help.
