Face Masks at Home


You must have heard that vegetarianism is healthy. And that people these days are "going back to the basics". Be it health magazines or TV shows, they are all recommending in unison - Be natural, lead a chemical free life! So, why not extend the same to your beauty regimen? Why go in for facials and other chemical treatments at a beauty parlor, when you have all the ingredients for skin care at your home itself?

Women in eastern civilizations, have relied on natural skin care for centuries, to get a flawless, glowing and radiant skin. It is only now that the west has woken up to the fact that how beneficial natural ingredients can be for the health and look of the skin. So whether you have an oily, normal or a dry skin, given below are some effective tips to make face masks at home, for different skin types.

For Dry Skin

Honey and Almonds
This face mask is very good for dry skin as both honey and almonds are known to reduce the dryness and moisturize the skin at the same time. To make this homemade face pack, grind five almonds and add a teaspoon of honey to form a paste. Next, add a teaspoon of rose water to this mixture. Apply this evenly on the face and leave it on for fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes, wash the face with lukewarm water.

Egg yolk and Olive Oil
Combine together an egg yolk, one teaspoon honey and one tablespoon olive oil. Apply this paste on the face and leave it on for twenty minutes. After that, wash off with lukewarm water.

Oily Skin

Apple and Oatmeal
Take an apple and boil it, till it becomes tender enough to mash. In this mashed apple, combine two teaspoons of honey and mix properly. Apply the apple-honey paste on the face and neck. Leave it on for twenty minutes and then wash with water.

Banana and Mineral Clay
Take a banana and mash it to form a paste. Add a tablespoon of mineral clay and a teaspoon of rosewater to the mashed banana. Apply this evenly on the face and neck. Leave for twenty minutes and then wash with cold water.

Acne-prone Skin

Oatmeal
Oatmeal is an excellent home remedy for acne as it helps in clearing the pores of the skin. Take a tablespoon of oatmeal and add two teaspoons of honey to form a paste. Apply this on the face and all the other acne affected body parts. Leave it on for twenty minutes and then wash the skin with lukewarm water.

Baking Soda
Baking soda is believed to be a natural cure for pimples. Simply add enough water to it so as to form a paste. Apply this mixture on the face and all the acne affected skin areas. Leave it on for forty five minutes and then wash with water.

Normal Skin

Fuller's Earth and Milk
This face pack can do wonders for people with normal or combination skin. In a bowl, mix two teaspoons of milk, one teaspoon honey, two-three drops of vitamin E oil and a tablespoon of fuller's earth. You may add some more milk to get the right consistency. Apply this homemade face pack evenly on the skin. Leave on for twenty minutes and then wash with cold water.

Fruits
For a normal or combination skin, fruits such as papaya and banana are very beneficial. Simply mash these fruits, mix them together and apply on face and neck. Leave on for twenty minutes and then wash off.

Besides applying these face masks, to get a radiant glow on your face, drink lots of water and take a balanced diet, which has all the required nutrients. And lastly, for facial skin care, make a daily routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing, preferably with natural ingredients.
