Piercing is perhaps the most popular body art form I have come across! And why not, when it can look so amazing on any individual as well as on either sexes. True that you need the right kind of attitude and personality to carry it off, however, that is not the matter of concern here. If you wish to go for a piercing and are confident, then do it! Piercing has been associated with funk and style for many years now although this isn't true in all circumstances. Many people tend to look even more smart and beautiful after sporting a piercing. Now, nose piercing is one such popular piercing among the fairer sex. And as you may know, it doesn't take much of time, saves money to greater extent and also doesn't involve too many risks so much so that you can easily try it out at home.
As I said, the steps for nostril piercing ain't difficult although, you need to be very careful while using the piercing needle. Plus, the cost is not a matter of concern. For piercing, you need to buy the appropriate stud preferably, a nose ring.
- To start with, gather the materials needed for the entire process that is the nose ring, sterilized hollow piercing needle, clamp, alcohol, latex gloves and a pen.
- When you have all the materials handy, first of all wash your entire face thoroughly with a face wash and warm water so that it is free of dirt and looks fresh.
- When you are done, take a pen and mark the position wherein you want to pierce your nose. Make a small dot so as to make it easier.
- Now, take alcohol dipped cotton ball and roll it over the area of the nose you want to pierce. Take few ice cubes and keep them over the nose for about 3-4 minutes so as to make the entire part numb. This acts as anesthesia and therefore helps you through the process.
- So also, take the nose ring and dip it in alcohol for few minutes. Wear the latex gloves in your hands now. You can use a clamp to hold the nose in place as well.
- Next, remove the piercing needle from the packet and immediately pierce it perpendicularly on the marked part of your nose. You are sure to feel the pricking sensation for a few seconds.
- Once piercing is done, take the ring out of the alcohol and insert it in the pierced hole and close it with the back. This process is going to hurt therefore rub the part with alcohol again for sometime. Well, there you are! Done with how to pierce your own nose at home itself.

- Thirdly, prepare the place you want to work on and clean it properly before starting off with the process. Use bleach solution to clean the place where you want to perform the activity. Likewise, make sure someone is there to guide you in case you go wrong or ain't confident.
- After you are done with piercing, clean the area with ear care solution and continue doing so everyday, two times. So also as a part of aftercare, keep on moving the ring to ensure that the hole is permanent and doesn't close by any chance.
- When you wish to change the stud, first of all hold your nose over steam, remove the previous ring and then insert the new one carefully. Although, I suggest give some time for the nose to heal.
