How to Braid French Style

Prepare your hair well for French braids. The basic requirement of French braids is a clean, dry hair free from any grease or oil. Therefore, wash your hair with shampoo and condition it with a conditioner suitable for your hair. Allow the hair to dry. Wet hair will be difficult to manage. You can even blow dry the wet hair to dry it fast. Untangle the hair with the help of a wide-toothed comb. Comb well with a fine-toothed comb. Proceed with the hair braiding instructions on how to do French braid.
  1. Divide the hair on the top of the head by a superficial line touching both the ears.
  2. Take the front section. Further divide it into three tufts of equal thickness.
  3. Hold the left tuft of hair in your left hand and the right in your right hand. Hold the tufts in your palms in such a way that the hair tuft is in between the thumb and the index finger.
  4. Move the left tuft of hair over the middle one. Then, move the right hair tuft over the left tuft, which is now at the center.
Note: If you know how to braid hair, you know that at this point you are supposed to cross the original middle section, that is currently present at left side over the tuft present at the center. But, you are doing French braids. At this step, you have to do the following.
  5. Leave the hair tuft, now present on the left side. Take a new tuft of hair from the left side of your scalp. Introduce it in your braids by crossing it over the center braid.
  6. Do the same on the right side.
  7. Keep introducing new tufts of hair from both the sides of your scalp. The braid will grow in length but would remain intact with your head. This is how the typical French braid comes in the hair.
  8. Continue doing like the above till you reach the nape of your neck. If your hair is really long (say 22 inches), you can continue with the normal hair braiding.
  9. Otherwise, you are left with two options. Either stop braiding and seal the braids with a ponytail holder and leave the rest of the hair loose, or roll up the rest of the hair with the help of hair clips to make a bun. You can decorate the bun with hair accessories and give a classic as well as fancy look to your hair. This is a perfect hair style for any grand occasion.
After reading all the "how to French braid instructions" you must have known that French braiding the hair is no big deal.
