How to Make Homemade Face Paint


Be it Halloween or a costume party, without face paint, a party seems incomplete without it. The face is painted according to the character that person is dressing up as. So, whether you plan to dress up as a fairy, witch, tiger, ghost, vampire, etc., you can easily prepare non-toxic face paint from items found in your pantry. It's an easier and less-expensive alternative to purchasing paint colors from craft stores. Now, instead of beating around the bush, let's get to the steps to prepare homemade face paint.

Easy Face Paint Recipes
You can prepare the following recipes and store the paint in small mason jars. This way, when you're applying the paint on yourself or helping someone else, you will have easy access to the colors. Also, apply the colors with your fingers, soft paintbrushes, or cotton balls and swabs.

Paint Recipe 1Ingredients
  • 5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 teaspoon Vaseline
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • Food coloring, your choice
  • Styrofoam plate
Directions
In the Styrofoam plate, combine all the ingredients one by one, except the food coloring. With a paintbrush or toothbrush, stir everything thoroughly. Once the mixture is ready, without any lumps, add food coloring (one drop at a time). Keep stirring the mixture as you add the food coloring. Once you get the desired color, stop adding more color and use the batch.

  • 5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons cold cream
  • Food coloring, your choice
  • Styrofoam plate
Directions
In the Styrofoam plate, combine cornstarch with water. With a paintbrush or toothbrush, stir the mixture thoroughly. Once the mixture is ready, without any lumps, add the cold cream and food coloring (one drop at a time). Keep stirring the mixture as you add the food coloring.   • 1 tablespoon flour
  • cup light corn syrup
  • cup water
  • Food coloring, your choice

If you don't wish to use food coloring in any of these recipes, just review the table provided here for color options. As you can see, there are many foods that can be added to the recipes mentioned above and get the color you're looking for. However, it is essential to know that these paint colors are not supposed to be eaten. If a child or whoever is wearing the paint is allergic to any of the ingredients mentioned in the table and/or the recipes above, do not include it while preparing the paint. To verify that the kids are not allergic to any of the ingredients, do a small test on their hands.
