Pore Strips for Blackheads

A blackhead, which is also known as an open comedo, is a small yellowish or black bump that is present on the skin. Blackheads are classified as being a type of acne vulgaris. These are seen due to accumulation of excess oil that is secreted by the sebaceous glands. It is most commonly seen in the region of the nose and the part of the cheeks just around the nose. People are always on the lookout for ways of removing blackheads. One simple way is to use pore strips. These are small white strips that are roughly rectangular in shape and help in getting rid of blackheads. Given below are details regarding the use of these strips to eliminate the problem of blackheads.

What are Pore Strips?

Blackhead strips are especially designed to get rid of excess of oil and sebum on the skin while also getting rid of the small black bumps present. These can be used on the nose, forehead, chin and in some parts of the skin. In these strips, there is a coating of glue on one side. This glue is the main component that binds to the dirt and sebum on the skin. Once the pore strip dries out, it is pulled off, thus, peeling the blackheads and oil with it.

How to Use Pore Strips for Blackheads?

First and foremost, clean your nose. It needs to be clean because any kind of contamination will interfere with proper adhesion of the strip to the nose. It is best if you try to open your pores or soften your skin a little before using these pore strips. You can do so by taking steam or a hot water bath. Ensure that the nose is wet and then place the strip over the nose to get rid of blackheads on nose. Ensure that the strip is securely placed over the nose, without any air bubbles being present. Wait for around ten to fifteen minutes to let the strip dry. Once the strip is dry, start peeling it from the sides and then gradually advance to the middle. Once you remove the strip, wash your face thoroughly and cleanse.

It is important to know that you should not use pore strips for blackheads more than once in three days. In fact, most people recommend that using these strips once a week also suffices. There may be some initial side effects when you use these to get rid of blackheads, like, having some glue left on the skin or a slight burning sensation while removing the strip. If the strip hurts during removal, then it is best to try to slowly and patiently remove the strip, rather than ripping it off with a few layers of your skin in tow! A little bit of burning or itching sensation is expected, so don't worry about that. However, if your skin turns red and stings for a long time after removal, it is best to visit a dermatologist to check if you may be allergic to some ingredient in the strip.

These strips may not work for everyone as their efficacy is dependent on many factors. These include the way the pore strip is used, the skin type and whether the strip suits the skin type or not. A bad choice in pore strip brand and wrong usage can lead to zero removal of blackheads! However, if a person is well suited to a certain brand and properly follows the instructions on the label, it is possible to get rid of as much as 80% of blackheads. For people who have very thick skin due to which these pore strips do not work, squeezing blackheads with sterilized equipment may be the only option to get rid of these blackheads. One more point to keep in mind is that pore strips cannot help to reduce the occurrence of blackheads, though they are considered to be an effective blackhead treatment option. The best way to keep the problem of blackheads at bay is to maintain proper hygiene and ensure that a religious routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing is followed!
