Fix Damaged Hair
In today's trendy and fashionable world, we are constantly trying to reinvent our looks. In the process however, we are constantly over-processing them with chemicals, straightening irons, perms etc. This removes the natural oils from our hair and makes our hair damaged, dry, brittle and coarse. If your hair has also become damaged then don't give up hope and chop it all off. The question asked most often is, can you fix damaged hair? And the answer is yes, with a little patience and proper hair care, you can repair damaged hair.
Damaged hair occurs when the cuticle layer of your hair has been damaged due to chemical treatments like perms or because of using hair straighteners, styling products or sometimes even hair accessories, leading to hair breakage. Though, there are lots of commercially manufactured products that offer solutions to repair damaged hair, most solutions have short-term results.
How to Fix Damaged Hair
Choosing the Right Products
A crucial step to repair damaged hair is selecting the right hair care products. For example, you should always choose a shampoo without ammonium lauryl sulfate. It is found in most shampoos and is very harsh on the hair which tends to strip the hair of its natural luster. Instead try to use a shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate which is very gentle on the hair. For the conditioner, choose one that has fatty acids and cetyl alcohol in it. They help keep the moisture in the hair which is necessary for damaged hair.
Deep Conditioning
Deep moisturizing conditioning is very important for your dry damaged hair repair. This is because, deep conditioning helps bring back the moisture, softness and elasticity to your hair which is important for damaged hair. You have the option of getting this done at a professional salon, however it is more economical at home. Besides a conditioner, a protein based reconstructor should also be used. The reconstructor is primarily used with an objective of repairing damaged hair. Make sure keratin is present in the protein reconstructors.
Schedule Regular Trims
Most of us don't even trim our hair, with a permanent excuse that we want to grow hair. However, regular trims are extremely important to fix damaged hair. You don't have to chop of all your hair, a trim is enough to remove the dead hair. It is recommended to get a trim every two or three months.
Oil
Another good remedy to repair damaged hair is to use different kinds of oils before washing your hair. The best mixture is that of castor oil, olive oil, almond oil and coconut oil. Apply this mixture to your hair and scalp, either a couple of hours before washing your hair or if possible at night before sleeping. These oils will facilitate healthy hair growth and keep the hair moisturized and nourished.
Home Remedies
There are a number of damaged hair home remedies that can easily be used to repair dry damaged hair. These remedies require only natural products that are healthy and will not cause any damage to the hair follicles. One of the most effective remedies is using eggs as a natural conditioner and cleanser. To use this remedy, separate the egg white from the yolk and whip the egg white. Add a tablespoon of water and mix until creamy. The egg yolk can be added to the creamy mixture and applied to wet hair. Make sure you massage gently into the scalp. Rinse after 5 minutes.
Dry damaged hair can be due to various reasons, so it's very important to understand the cause in order to treat your hair. Make sure you always carry out chemical styling only under professional guidance. To retain the natural beauty of your hair, it is important for you to follow the hair care necessary.
